Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using CollegeConnect (“the Platform”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. What CollegeConnect Is

CollegeConnect is a peer-to-peer marketplace that connects prospective students (“Students”) with current college students (“Mentors”) for 1-on-1 video conversations. We facilitate the booking and payment process but are not a party to the conversation itself.

We do not employ Mentors, and Mentors are not agents or representatives of CollegeConnect or of their respective universities.

3. Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Platform (or 16 in the EU). If you are under 18, you must have parental consent. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

4. Payments and Refunds

All payments are processed securely via Stripe. By booking a session, you authorize the charge to your payment method at the listed rate.

• Full refund: Cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled session start time for a full refund.
• Late cancellation: Cancel within 24 hours of the session and you will be refunded the full amount minus a $5 late cancellation fee.
• Mentor acceptance: After payment, your Mentor has up to 24 hours to accept the booking. If they do not accept within 24 hours (or within 4 hours of the session start, whichever is sooner), the booking is automatically cancelled and you are refunded in full.
• Mentor no-shows: If a Mentor does not join a confirmed session, you will be automatically refunded in full after the session end time. You may also contact us at support@getcollegeconnect.com.

CollegeConnect retains a 20% platform fee on each session. Mentors receive the remaining 80% via Stripe Connect payouts.

5. Mentor Eligibility

Mentors must be currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students. By applying to become a Mentor, you confirm that all information provided — including your school, graduation year, and email — is accurate and truthful. Providing false information will result in immediate removal from the Platform.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Misrepresent your identity, affiliation, or qualifications
• Use the Platform to provide or solicit professional services outside of CollegeConnect
• Harass, threaten, or demean other users
• Record sessions without the other party's consent (where recording is permitted by the Platform, both parties are notified)
• Share another user's personal information without their consent
• Attempt to circumvent the Platform to book sessions directly and avoid fees

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CollegeConnect shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform, including — but not limited to — college admission outcomes, financial decisions, or the accuracy of information shared in sessions.

Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months prior to the claim.

8. Intellectual Property

CollegeConnect and its design, trademarks, and content are owned by CollegeConnect. You may not reproduce or use them without written permission. Content you create (profile bio, reviews, messages) remains yours, but you grant CollegeConnect a license to display it on the Platform.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms, engages in fraudulent activity, or harms other users — at our sole discretion and without prior notice.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
